Ambedkar remembered on death anniversary

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, his cabinet colleagues, political leaders and representatives of various Dalit outfits on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his death anniversary.

Mr. Narayanasamy, Speaker V. Vaithilingam, Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam, Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy, Minister for Education R. Kamalakannan, Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao, Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, AIADMK legislative leader A. Anbalagan, DMK MLA R. Siva, former Chief Minister R.V. Janakiraman, former Minister S.P. Sivakumar, leaders of various political parties such as BJP, CPI (M), CPI and VCK garlanded the statue of Dr. Ambedkar at Bharathi Park.

Former Chief Minister N. Rangasamy garlanded a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar at the N.R. Congress party office near Indira Gandhi Statue.

They also visited Ambedkar Manimandapam on Beach Road and offered floral tributes to his statue.

A large number of persons representing various Dalit organisations took out a rally from different places to the Assembly and offered floral tributes to the statue of Ambedkar. School and college students too garlanded his statue.

A few people, after garlanding the statue, shouted slogans against the ruling Congress for not implementing welfare measures. They also raised slogans against BJP for spreading Hindutva agenda.
