Bantwal: Gang thrashes Dalit boys for refusing to smoke ganja Karnataka

Bantwal: In an incident which happened at Kumudelu near Maripalla within Pudu village in the taluk, a gang attacked two Dalit brothers one of whom happens to be physically challenged, on Tuesday, May 16 for refusing to smoke ganja.
Samanth (16), a SSLC student of Mermajalu school, and Sushant, a seventh standard student of Holy Family School Meramajalu, came under attack. Sushant is physically challenged.
It is said that a gang which was smoking ganja in the government school premises pressurised the two boys to do so. The gang consisted of Shravan from Kelagina Thumbay, Roshan, Avinash, Charan and Rajesh from Kumudelu. A complaint stands filed in rural station here against the accused, who reportedly hit the boys under their feet and hands. Both the boys stand admitted into the government hospital here.
The two boys were playing inside the compound of government school at Kumudelu when the five accused, who were smoking ganja, called the boys near them and asked them to smoke ganja. When the boys refused, Shravan made them to sit on the compound wall before hitting under their feet with a stick. They were also hit in their hand, Samant said in a complaint filed with police.
“The compound wall of the school is common wall for the compound of our house. When the children came home crying, I went to the ground and questioned the attackers. They said they had hit the boys to give them good sense.   Both the children are unable to walk because of injuries,” said mother of the children, Sujatha.
It is said that the five accused who had been arrested in a case for possessing ganja were released on bail a few days back.
