Dalit woman abducted, gang-raped, FIR lodged

Jaipur: A 30-year-old Dalit woman was kidnapped and gang-raped allegedly by five persons while she was on her way to Binnu village from Meghsar in Churu district of the state for two days. Breaking her silence, the woman, along with her family lodged a case at Taranagar police station on Saturday evening.

According to the police, the rape survivor was going to her maternal home from her in-laws’ house situated at Meghsar. “The woman in her complaint stated that three persons, identified as Vinod, Banwari and Hansraj kidnapped her while she was standing at a bus stand, waiting for bus a few days ago. She was drugged by them and later five persons including two yet to be identified raped her. She was kept hostage for two days,” said a senior police officer while quoting the FIR lodged by the family on Sunday. Police added that the accused Vinod pushed her into the vehicle and after drugging her she was taken to an isolated place on the village outskirts. “She was dropped back at the Sahawa bus stand. Later she narrated her plight to the family members. Her medical was conducted. We have also lodged a case of rape and kidnap and have initiated a massive hunt to nab the assailants,” the officer added.

However, police added that they were also verifying the claims made by the woman and are awaiting medical report. “There are some doubts in this case which are to be verified. Prima facie it appears to be a genuine case thus we have registered it and begun probe,” an officer added.
