The protestors said the Shiva temple in Thirumalaigiri was located on a government land. Recently, members of a particular community renovated the temple with the money collected from the public and arranged for kumbabishekam.

“When we sought rights to worship, we were prevented,” they added. Talks with revenue officials did not yield any results and Section 144 was imposed in 21 villages and the temple was locked.
