Govt. fails to implement welfare schemes to Dalits

dalit-watch-feb-14-13SRIKAKULAM: Mala Mahanadu State president Palteti Pentarao and the Association’s women wing president N.N. Mani on Saturday alleged alleged that the government had failed to implement welfare and development schemes to Dalits despite its claims over sanctioning of huge funds under SC Sub-Plan.

Addressing a media conference, they said that Dalits life has become miserable in rural areas as per the survey which was conducted to find out their economic conditions after the agitations in the State. “The government should take steps immediately to distribute land to all the eligible Dalit families to ensure decent life for them.

The government should relax rules for Dalit candidates to get job opportunities easily,” said Mr. Pentarao. According to resolutions passed by Mala Mahanadu after a meeting in Srikakulam, special package has to be announced for North Andhra region. Dalit leaders should also be given importance in the discussions while finalising the package.

Welfare schemes should reach Dalits without involvement of political leaders and middlemen.

New statue of Dr. Ambedkar must be installed in the Assembly as the existing one was not properly designed.
