Rapes on rise: Another minor falls victim

Bhopal: A seven-year-old Dalit and a student of Class three was raped by a married man, on Saturday evening. A case was later registered at Govindpura police station. It is fourth incident of rape with a minor less than 10 years of age in past around 20 days.
Three rape survivors have attempted suicide in past over a year. Of them, two died while one was saved at the last minute.

The latest incident took place in Barkheda Pathani area. Police said the minor had returned home after tuition when accused Rangeela alias Deepak, who is a guard and lives on rent in a separate portion of the same house took her to the roof where he raped her before threatening her to keep mum.
Police said the minor was with her siblings while her parents had gone out for work. Incident came to light when her mother returned in the evening. The survivor who was screaming in pain, narrated her plight to her mother after which the matter was reported to police. Survivor’s mother is complainant in the case. Minor told that accused had taken her to the roof where he took off her clothes before raping her. Police said the accused is a married man and has kids. They said that he has been rounded up, but not arrested officially. Meanwhile, the survivor remains in trauma. She was taken for medical examination on Sunday.

Police said her father is a private employee while mother also goes out for work. The survivor is a student of a school situated near her house.

Since the survivor is a Dalit, the case will now be transferred to AJK police. Cops said that investigation carried out till now has not unearthed any past criminal record of the accused.
