dalit-watch-oct-01NOIDA: A day after a domestic help allegedly abused by her woman employer was rescued from Delhi, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Noida police rescued an 11-year-old Dalit girl from Sector 71. Police said the minor had been employed as a domestic help for the past two years.

The girl, a resident of Munger district of Bihar, reportedly told the police on Tuesday that she was physically and mentally abused by her employers during her two year work tenure. Police said there is swelling on her hands and legs, reportedly caused by beatings with a stick, apart from some old scars. A medical examination has been conducted to check for internal injuries. We will also conduct a bone ossification test and X-rays to check her age,” said Nirmal Massi, an AHTU official Police said the girl has studied up to Class IV. She told the employers visited her village and brought her to work for them. Even though they fixed a salary of Rs 1,000 per month, the minor claimed they did not give her the money and was told that it was being sent to her family.

In her statement to the police, the girl has alleged that her employers never allowed her out of the house and would at times lock her up in a room. “I was given only one meal a day.
I was fed with leftovers and dry bread. I was made to sleep on the floor, given only one garment to wear and if I made a mistake, I would be beaten up,” she said. She added that in the past two years, she was allowed to speak to her mother only once.

The accused, allegedly employed with an MNC in Noida’s Sector 2, has been identified. “The accused will be arrested soon,” said Vishwajeet Srivastava, DSP, Noida.
