Sadhu Bela Temple

Sadhu Bela temple was founded in 1823 by Swami Brakhandi Maharaja, who had immigrated from Nepal. It is believed that he spent almost 40 years worshiping the goddess of food Mata Anporna, who blessed the land with abundant food.

The temple is situated in Sukkur in the middle of River Indus on an island opposite Bunder wall. The island has two inlets, Sadh Belo and Din Belo. The island can be reached by a short boat ride from Sukkur which lands right at the main gate of the temple

The Sadhu Bela temple is considered sacred for many Hindu & Sikh pilgrims. Temple complex covers over nine acres, on an island-like structure, it is a beautiful sight, especially before sunset.

There still exists a tree in the temple premises under which, Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, taught sadhus about the path of life.

The annual death anniversary of Baba Bankhandi Maharaj is celebrated here by a three-day festival in which pilgrims are provided with free lodging, food, and water.
