Raising awareness about the many Dalit children trapped in child labour.

dalit-watch-june-2013-image2This month, in recognition of World Day against Child Labour (June 12th), we are raising awareness about the many Dalit children trapped in child labour. As untouchables and social outcastes, Dalit children live in poverty and often lack access to quality education. This makes them particularly vulnerable to bonded labour and human trafficking. Sometimes children as young as six work in hazardous and abusive situations for little to no pay.

Education is one of the most effective weapons in the fight against child labour. It gives children the tools they need to break the cycle of oppression and improve their quality of life. That’s why Dalit Freedom Network is building schools and empowering hundreds of Dalit children with a quality education.
